Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account information: name, email address, and authentication credentials (passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text).
• Financial data you enter directly: assets, liabilities, goals, and cash-flow entries across every category the app supports (stocks, crypto, real estate, vehicles, business interests, metals, collectibles, bonds, cash, and retirement accounts).
• Financial data from accounts you connect: if you link a bank or brokerage account through Plaid, we receive balances, holdings, and transaction data for the accounts you authorize. Your bank credentials are entered directly into Plaid's interface and never touch our servers.
• Documents you upload for statement extraction (e.g. brokerage or bank PDFs), stored securely and used only to populate the data you confirm.
• Security and account-activity records: sign-ins, password changes, two-factor authentication changes, and data exports, so we can alert you to activity on your own account and investigate abuse.
• Locale, currency, and timezone preferences, used to format what you see.

How we use it

Your financial data is used to power the product you signed up for: net worth calculations, charts, projections, and the scenario simulator. If you use Cerneiq Copilot or any AI-generated insight, summary, or report narrative, the relevant portion of your financial data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate that response. Nothing you enter is used to train third-party models. AI-generated content is informational — for a decision specific to your situation, we'll point you to a licensed financial advisor rather than tell you what to do.

Who we share data with

We don't sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make Cerneiq work:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Every row is scoped to your account and enforced at the database level.
• Plaid — bank and brokerage account connections, if you choose to link one.
• Stripe — subscription billing. We never see or store your full card number.
• Anthropic — AI-generated insights, Copilot answers, and simulation narratives, as described above.
• Resend — transactional email (welcome messages, household invites, password resets).
• Market and reference data providers (Finnhub, CoinGecko, gold-api.com, Frankfurter, Mapbox, and NHTSA) — these receive only the query needed to answer it (a ticker symbol, a VIN, an address), never your account identity or full financial picture.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the security of the service.

Your controls

• Export a copy of your data at any time from Settings → Data (CSV or PDF).
• Control which optional notifications you receive from Settings → Notifications. Security notifications about your own account can't be turned off.
• Request account deletion by emailing hello@cerneiq.com — self-service deletion isn't built yet, so a real person handles every request. Once processed, your financial data, connected-account links, and documents are permanently removed.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your financial data and disconnect any linked accounts. We may retain minimal records (such as billing history) where required for legal or accounting purposes.

Cookies

Cerneiq uses only the cookies required to keep you signed in and to remember your session. We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we collect or use your data, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Continued use of Cerneiq after a change means you accept the updated policy.
